On a sunny week in May, we celebrated two milestones for Freedom Solar Power. We’re thrilled to expand our presence in the Sunshine State.
We established the Freedom Solar flagship location in Tampa one year ago. Now, we’ve officially opened the doors of our Orlando office and warehouse. Freedom Solar is the only SunPower® Master Dealer in Tampa and a certified Tampa Clean Energy Authority solar installer.
Ribbon-Cutting Excitement in Florida!
The Chambers of Commerce christened our offices with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome us as the newest solar Floridians. Freedom Solar Regional Sales Manager (and former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver) Justin McCombs returned to Florida from Texas last year to establish roots in Tampa. Now, we’re ready to hit the gas in Orlando and help Central Florida customers transition to clean, reliable solar energy.
This is especially important because the Florida legislature recently tried to change statewide net-metering, the primary way solar customers save money. Net-metering provides a credit for excess energy that distributed solar users like homes and businesses send to the grid. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis vetoed the bill.
Freedom Solar welcomed Southeastern Food Bank (SEFB) out of Ocoee, Florida, as our guest at the ribbon-cuttings. There, SEFB received donations and canned goods to distribute to Central Florida. Mark and Ruth Anne Anthony run SEFB, which has been in operation for 30-plus years and helped thousands of families.
The nonprofit organization is committed to providing daily nutritional assistance to its neighbors in need. Moreover, it helps families stabilize their lives by providing health and hope to put them on a path to self-sufficiency. Freedom Solar is always looking for bigger ways to support the community. Luckily, we encountered SEFB after its owners added Freedom Solar SunPower solar panels to their home.
Freedom Solar is an end-to-end solar company with boots on the ground in Texas, Colorado, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. Our growing local team is ready to lead the solar revolution in our newest office: Orlando. We do everything in-house, from the first phone call to the final day of installation and future service calls.

In Tampa, the Austin Leadership Team, local staff, customers and special guests like Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce members celebrated our one-year anniversary with a bang. It was a hot one in Tampa, but that didn’t stop us from having a great time in the Bay.
“It’s such a cool thing to be able to get on a plane in one city and be with a group of people who are serious about installing solar, doing the right thing and helping customers. Then fly 1,500 miles away and see the same family doing the same thing in a different part of the country,” said Bret Biggart, Freedom Solar CEO. “Florida feels like home already. We’re not going anywhere, and solar is not going anywhere either.”
We then headed east to hold another ribbon-cutting ceremony in Orlando. Plus, we had a grand turnout that included another ribbon-cutting with the help of the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce. We also mingled with some of our new customers, who’ll have us soon install their solar and backup power systems! We were proud to include local businesses, such as Hidden Springs Ale Works and Freedom Solar’s own energy consultant and part-time private chef Luke Clements Catering.
