After our most profitable quarter ever Freedom Solar is excited to announce that we’ve expanded in the San Antonio market with a new office space that has quadrupled in size. This comes as no surprise, as we’ve seen tremendous growth and opportunity for solar in the Alamo City.
An Austin-based solar company coming off its strongest quarter ever is moving into a larger San Antonio office and expecting to hire eight more people in the Alamo City by the end of the year.
Freedom Solar is moving into an office and warehouse space at 12861 Wetmore Road near Wurzbach Parkway. The space is four times the size of its workspace at 4222 GateCrest, which it shares with a local sign manufacturer. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the company is still in the process of moving or had already vacated its GateCrest location. A spokesperson didn’t respond to follow-up questions.
The new location includes 7,000 square feet of warehouse space capable of storing up to 7,600 solar panels. The rest of the 2,000 square feet will house offices for the company’s 32 employees, which the company expects to grow to 40 by the end of the year.
“San Antonio has proven to be an excellent market for us,” Freedom Solar CEO Bret Biggart said in a statement. “That’s not surprising, since it is one of the fastest-growing, most forward-thinking cities in the nation, with new businesses coming in every day, a lower cost of living than other big Texas cities and a rich, diverse history and culture.”

The company made the announcement of its new San Antonio location following its most profitable quarter since it was founded in 2007. In the third quarter of this year, Freedom Solar reported $27 million in residential sales, with $3.6 million of that coming from San Antonio homeowners.
The company has also recorded commercial sales of $5.5 million so far this year. In San Antonio, it will soon install solar panels at a church on the East Side and a senior center being built at 3160 West Ave. It has recently completed projects at a couple of nearby car dealerships and apartment buildings.
Despite challenges stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic, including the inability to make in-home sales calls and a hesitancy to make large investments, San Antonio residents continue to demand solar panels, Biggart said. Some of that credit goes to CPS Energy, which offers residents a $2,500 rebate on rooftop solar installations, he said.

The company has already installed nearly 2,000 kilowatts of solar energy in San Antonio so far this year, with another 1,500 kW expected by the end of the year.
In addition to San Antonio and Austin, Freedom Solar has offices in Houston, Dallas and two recently opened locations in Colorado.
