So when he was looking for a way to future-proof his farm, he chose solar power. His scenic farm houses several barns, cattle, elk, bison, and now a powerful 16.6kW solar array with a backup Tesla Powerwall system. Ryan enjoys an outdoorsman’s dream of hunting, farming, and fishing. His farm also houses an impressive collection of vintage tractors, cars, and trucks.
About the Newman Farm
While his race car driving career is filled with big crowds and big flashing lights, his home life is a peaceful drive down a scenic North Carolina highway. The farm is home to about 100 head of cattle, over 30 elk and a few dozen American Bison. This property is part of a long-term dream of Ryan’s to live sustainably in comfort and style.
Each of his 4 barns has a unique flavor to it that highlights his numerous outdoorsmen interests including fishing, hunting, racing, and vintage farm equipment. Freedom Solar was able to help power his barns and provide a backup battery solution to keep him powered in any situation.
Ryan’s main building is a 100-year old Amish craftsman barn that was built in Ohio and then rehomed on his farm. A big concern of his was how the modern look of solar would impact the aesthetics. Freedom Solar was able to design an array to his desires and achieve a look that met his requirements.
