Signature Project – Monadnock Ford
It’s just one of those projects that has ‘Beauty’ written all over it, and does it pack a mighty punch. Way up in Blueberry Country, New Hampshire’s Monadnock Ford moved 55% of their annual energy consumption away from Eversource, to their 98kW rooftop solar array. The GreenHouse Gas equivalent of 80,000 pounds of coal NOT burned, every single year for the next 3+ decades.
Thanks, MOM, Math of the Month
A Stack of incentives motivates Commercial properties in Virginia to act. Bonus Depreciation and Investment Tax Credits (ITC) are typically enough, between 62-82% of project costs are subsidized, these can include 10% ITC additions if in each geo-defined Energy and/or Low Income Communities. Little known treat from the State of Virginia that adds RECs or Renewable Energy Credits, 1 per 1,000kWh of electricity placed on the grid, and that’s in perpetuity. This creates another $280k of aggregate cash payments for the average solar project. Bottom line, in nearly every current VA commercial project, there are more total incentives than project cost. And the ongoing utility bills savings are on top of that. No wonder our MOM/Math of the Month is Virginia, aka the Mother of Presidents.
Tech Matters
Lots of talk about EV Batteries, and now with Peak Demand Rates enveloping the nation, most are now learning about BESS or Battery Energy Storage Systems. BESS stores incoming energy from lowest cost night- time utility rates, or fill-up for free from onsite solar power production. BESS software then discharges during high afternoon consumption cycles known as Peak Demand Times of Use. This is commonly known as Peak Demand Shaving. BESS technology is mature, available and has become so important, it is now required for all new commercial properties in California with 10k+ sq/ft of air conditioned space, Title 24. With the Inflation Reduction Act incentives, the payback periods are as little as 3 years.
FAQ – Does Solar Really Work in Northern States?
A: If you live up there, you probably know and see how fast solar is growing. Panels ormodules, have become very efficient, in some aspects approaching the theoretical maximum efficiency. This coupled with regional incentives, has led snow States like New York and Massachusetts with over 4,000 MW of installed solar. That’s tremendous capacity, enough to power up 1.4M+ homes.

Benefits of going solar
CONTROL ENERGY COSTS
Electricity is now a variable cost with 20% or less on average paid to the utility company. Energy generation for decades akin to reinsurance in F&I.
GAIN TAX CREDITS
Solar gets you tax credits, eligible grants, and bonus depreciation savings and income. Our team will help you qualify and apply for all applicable government subsidies.
PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENTS
In addition to rooftop solar, we offer solar carports, which reduce open lot insurance costs, protect against hail, and can integrate EV charging.
