Strengthening Our Austin Community with I Live Here I Give Here

Freedom Solar partners with I Live Here I Give Here to grow solar and fund local Austin nonprofits through a community challenge. Learn more!

To fulfill our mission to empower all Texans to get clean, affordable, reliable energy from the sun, the Freedom Solar business model is centered around cultivating solar and community all at once. Because our Austin-native founders live and work here too, we understand the importance of working together to build a stronger, more sustainable community as our city and the entire region grow.

In particular, we support the hard work of Central Texas non-profits to fill in the gaps between business and government services. When those nonprofits can reduce their energy costs, it means more money goes back into serving their mission. That’s why we are proud to have donated solar panel installations to Mobile Loaves & Fishes’ Community First! Village, Sustainable Food Center, and Blackland Community Development Corporation, as well as off-grid solar for A Child’s Hope orphanage in Haiti.

Now, just in time for Giving Tuesday, we are partnering with I Live Here I Give Here™ to support even more local nonprofits – and help build a more sustainable local environment – through a community challenge. We have pledged to support The I Live Here I Give Here Fund with a $500 donation for every homeowner who goes solar with us through this partnership. Each new customer will also get $500 off a home solar power system.

The mission of I Live Here I Give Here is to make Austin the most generous place in the U.S. Its most recognizable program is Amplify Austin Day, which in 2019 raised $11.2 million in one day alone through more than 50,000 donations. The organization partners with almost 750 nonprofits who align with causes that positively impact every aspect of our community.

Freedom Solar has been deeply rooted in Austin from our humble beginnings 12 years ago in a garage right on Lake Austin. We are founder-led under local ownership, employ a team of 150 Texas employees, run the only in-house solar service department in the state of Texas, and have installed solar for almost 2,000 Austin homeowners and more than 50 businesses and institutions ranging from Whole Foods to The University of Texas to The Thinkery to Strictly Pediatrics. We are proud to have been named one of the “Best Places to Work 2019” by the Austin Business Journal.

Now, there’s a new way to give back that helps our city and helps you. Contact us today to find out if solar is a good fit for your home, and let’s create a healthier and more connected community together!
