Over the past 12 years, we’ve seen a lot in the rapidly changing solar industry. We’ve seen everything from falling costs (down 70% since our 2007 foundation) to the number of U.S. solar-powered homes and businesses reaching 2 million (May 2019).
From our humble beginnings, installing solar one house at a time in Central Texas, we’ve expanded throughout Texas. And we’ve grown into the largest residential solar installer in Texas for the past three years running. We’ve also become the partner of choice for hundreds of top Texas institutions, including Whole Foods and the University of Texas.
In many ways, our experience mirrors the industry. After all, we’ve faced constant change, plenty of ups and downs, and rapid growth. As we celebrate our 12th anniversary in business, we’re thrilled to announce two other milestones.
New Austin Headquarters Is Open
First, we recently expanded our Austin headquarters into a new location in southeast Austin after more than six years. The new space is two-thirds larger than our Todd Lane location, with a 12,000-square-foot warehouse with a capacity for 2,000 solar panels. It’s large enough to hold more than 13,000 solar panels stacked three pallets high across the warehouse’s entire footprint.
Unique features of our office will include a solar design center in our lobby to display Maxeon (previously SunPower) solar technology, a Tesla charging station in the parking lot and an archery range in the warehouse.
The new address is 4801 Freidrich Ln Ste 100, Austin, Texas 78744. Our phone numbers and other information are the same.
Austin’s Best Places to Work
Second, we’re proud that the Austin Business Journal named us one of Austin’s “Best Places to Work.” The journal recognized us for our highly engaged employees, whose No. 1 word to describe the culture is “fun.” Our employees also represent a diverse yet close team who all bring a sense of purpose to their work.
“Freedom Solar is a family atmosphere,” notes CEO Bret Biggart, “a meritocracy where everyone can learn, grow and achieve.” He says the company’s success is due to “radical transparency in communication and actively pushing people outside of their comfort zones.”
Even as Freedom Solar has become the largest and longest-serving installer in Texas, we’ve never forgotten our core purpose. And that purpose is to bring clean, affordable, reliable solar energy to all Texans, one system at a time.
We owe it all to our team and our customers, who lead the solar revolution with us. Thank you all!
