I got into the solar business 15 years ago. After what feels like a lifetime of mind-blowing, earth-shaking changes in this business, I’m certain of two things:
Solar power is still the future.
It’s also not enough.
To truly stay free and safe from rising energy bills and blackouts, you need a whole-house approach – one that protects your family and your pocketbook from above and inside your house. That means:
- Solar panels on the roof to generate your own electricity.
- Batteries and generators that store electricity to use when the power’s out (or you just don’t feel like paying the utility).
- Better air conditioning and heating systems that don’t waste your home-grown energy.
That’s why Freedom Solar has launched Freedom HVAC, which is available in the Houston area starting this month (it’s already available in Austin and San Antonio, and will launch in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in coming months). This new service offers another way that we can help consumers stay comfortable and confident, no matter what Texas weather throws your way.
That equals real energy independence for Texas families.
First and foremost, energy prices are going up. About half of most homeowners’ electricity is used to heat or cool their homes, and that power is only getting more expensive. Freedom Solar became one of the nation’s biggest residential solar companies by finding new, cutting-edge ways to help people generate and store their own electricity. But what good does that do when your house is blowing cold air onto the lawn?
That’s a particularly big issue in Houston — which uses more air-conditioning than any other city. During the summer, the average Houston homeowner runs their A/C more than 17 hours a day.
The region also experiences more than its share of extreme weather and blackouts, meaning more and more Houstonians are looking for reliable backup power. Roughly 90 percent of Freedom Solar’s Houston customers also buy batteries (Freedom also sells gas generators, and Houston is one of the biggest generator markets in the country).
But those investments don’t mean nearly as much when your house is leaking heat and air conditioning. Efficient equipment — such as state-of-the-art heat and cooling pumps, which Freedom specializes in — and better duct work fortifies your home and protects your family, even when extreme heat and cold blacks out your neighborhood.
For us, it just fits together perfectly — the key to energy freedom is on your roof and inside your home. With this new service, we can apply our technological and energy-saving know-how to the HVAC world and help our customers take control of their electricity.
I’m very excited about Freedom HVAC, and I’m excited to be in Houston. Please give us a call if you want energy freedom.
