About Tio Kleberg
Stephen J. “Tio” Kleberg needs little introduction if you’re a native Texan. He’s spent his life as a rancher on the King Ranch in South Texas – a household name in the Lonestar state and a property larger than the state of Rhode Island.
Tio connected with Freedom Solar Power when his energy costs were quickly growing out of hand. About the King Ranch House
Tio’s great great grandfather, Richard King, purchased the King Ranch property just over 160 years ago. Over the next decade and a half the ranch would become a leader in the ranching industry, leading some of the first cattle drives and developing revolutionary methods and tools for ranching.
Tio’s childhood home – his current home, sits near the Santa Gertrudis Creek near Kingsville, Texas and is a stellar example of a classic “ranch house.” Lush green trees surround this historic home where solar has been added to the King Ranch Legacy. Between the freckled landscape of oak and pecan trees and the creek, now sits a two-line ground mount solar array, totaling 37 kilowatts of solar output. This unique ground mount set up will power 50% of Tio’s operations and provides shade to the wild turkeys, diamondbacks, and other beloved wildlife near and dear to the Kleberg family.
