About Jane Ko
Jane is the creator behind A Taste of Koko, Austin’s top food and travel blog since 2010. Jane is a lifetime Texan and over 10-year Austinite. Jane has expanded into the home design space recently, and is currently documenting the process of building a custom home in Austin in partnership with her husband Josh.
About Koko’s Solar Project
Koko decided to go solar because she wanted to source her own energy from the sun rather than paying an electric bill. She was also looking to inject sustainability into her custom home.
“I’d always been curious about solar as many of our neighbors have solar. Also one of my friends got solar last year and she said she hasn’t had to pay an electric bill since!” she told us.
She reached out to Freedom Solar Power and found our process helpful and transparent throughout the process. We built a custom solar plan together based on her home and her goals for how much energy she wanted to produce.
Koko added 37 solar panels to herr roof, and chose a super sleek looking black panel that will blend in with the modern aesthetic. The system will power 63% of her home’s total energy needs. Her project is currently being worked on and we can’t wait to share more photos of the finished system.
